How do you calculate speaker SPL?

Start with speaker sensitivity, add power gain from amplifier watts, subtract distance loss from the 1 meter reference, then add any multi-speaker or room gain adjustment.

How much SPL does doubling power add?

Doubling amplifier power adds about 3 dB. For example, going from 50 watts to 100 watts adds roughly 3 dB.

How much SPL is lost when distance doubles?

In free-field conditions, doubling distance reduces SPL by about 6 dB. Indoor rooms may reduce distance loss because of reflections and boundary effects.

Do two speakers double the loudness?

Two identical speakers playing the same signal can add about 3 dB of sound energy, but perceived loudness depends on room, placement, frequency, and listener position.
